amazon.CON and the other stupid man, part 2

Since Blogger has decided now was as good a time as any to take a shit and not allow me to comment to even my own blog, I thought I would respond to some of your comments here.

Charlie, I realize I got the discount. As I explained in one of my comments to someone else, I have been a loyal Amazon customer for years and have received free shipping and handling on numerous occasions, not once having to deal with them adding the charge before deducting it. I'm not certain if this is a holiday thing so they can scam people out of their money or if they've just recently decided to add this little deception to their receipts but I've never had to deal with something like this before and due to being blessed with common sense, I won't have to ever again.

And, so as not to make my last post any longer than absolutely necessary, there were some things I left out...like how I was put off that Amazon has followed numerous other companies and has chosen to outsource to people in foreign countries who can barely speak the English language, how Punjab was less than helpful and became snitty with me about my questions and how he had little to no concept of the American payment system nor was he able to explain a possible discrepancy with billing errors. All those and what I mentioned previously all built up to my decision not to order through them again. Customers should be treated with the utmost respect since we are the ones who make or break a company's success.

Tug, in answer to your question about the man soliciting business through my personal Email, after the first message I received from him about a month ago, I was going to ask him where he got my Email address then but chose to hold my tongue and let it go. Had I known then that he would have the audacity to add me to a mailing list without my permission and I would be solicited once again, I would have asked him the first time. This time, however, I just thought he needed to know that what he did was unacceptable and not to do it again. And while I have no idea if he would have actually admitted to me how he got my Email address, I had no interest in having a correspondence with him so I just thought it wise to let him know to end his solicitations and lose my Email address. And, as it turned out, the response I received from him this morning proved to me that my initial instinct about him was right and that he was just a moron lacking in tact and professionalism.

I've had to deal with a multitude of stupidity from several individuals today, some I know and some I'm thankful not to, so with that I will take my edgy nerves and my pre-menstrual hormones and bid y'all a wonderful evening!

I'm not going to comment on outsourcing to India because that is another subject. I will, however, comment on this:

"I'm not certain if this is a holiday thing so they can scam people out of their money or if they've just recently decided to add this little deception to their receipts . . ."

I STILL do not understand how you were scammed or deceived.

You paid for 3 books ($6.04, $10.99, and $12.64) totalling $29.67, less a credit of $.55 for the amount you paid, $29.12. No shipping charges, so we both agree to this point.

The reason shipping was added and then deducted was to show you that shipping was indeed free. They could not show just a deduction because then you would have paid less than the cost of the books.

Another reason shipping was added and then deducted was for Amazon accounting purposes. Amazon incurred a real shipping cost and they compare that to the free cost to you—in other words, they are able to determine what their real out-of-pocket shipping costs were.

Think about it this way. Suppose the grocery store has a buy 2 get a third one free on Coke. They will ring up 3 Cokes and then deduct 1 so you only pay for 2. But they have rung up the 3rd one before deducting it for accounting purposes—in this case, Coke inventory.

If I've pissed you off I apologize, but Amazon did not scam you. As a matter of fact, you got a hell of a deal on Meyer's three books, no shipping, and no sales tax. You can't beat that at a local bookstore.

Tug, I'm hoping you're right. If not, then I will have no other choice but to go before the Homeowners Association and present this as a topic at the next HOA meeting. There is no good reason for someone to give out Email addresses that should have been kept confidential. The only time anyone should have another's Email address is when that person gives it to them but apparently someone who has knowledge of the residents' addresses is doing just that.

Derfina, high 5! lol

Charlie, first off, I'm not mad at you for voicing your thoughts. This is the second time you've mentioned something about me being mad at you and/or my not finding you funny for sharing your thoughts and I'm not sure what that means unless you want me to be mad at you of which I'm certain I could pull that off IF YOU TELL ME ONE MORE TIME THAT I'LL PROBABLY BE MAD AT YOU! Geez, lol. I guess my biggest mistake here was telling the story in parts and not as a whole so here is why I feel I was scammed - with all the shopping I've done with Amazon over the years, I have received quite a number of free s & h offers of which I've accepted each time. If my Email hadn't taken a hairy shit on me a few weeks ago with all my messages being lost from the past three or so years, I could have shown you as proof several of these receipts that did not show the discount as first added to the total before being deducted. The most recent order in which I received free shipping and handling was just over a month ago. Again, nothing shown as added before deducted. With that being said, I'm sure you can understand why I feel I'm being scammed.
